Insomniac has just released a limited amount of tickets for their highly anticipated Nocturnal Wonderland event, scheduled to take place on September 21/22 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, CA. Insomniac has pulled out all the stops for this event, including talent ranging from the progressive Swedish House Mafia master Axwell to trance giants Above and Beyond to underground sensation and Carl Cox protege Nicole Moudaber.
The event will be fraught with wild performers, contain 6 themed "musical areas" (because stages are just so old-school), as well as a full pyrotechnics and fireshow. Trust us, you won't want to sleep on these tickets as they will be going fast.

Who else longs for the days when going to a concert was purely about listening to good music? Rumors would spread like wildfire about the latest secret underground rave. Only through extensive research and asking around could you find out where these unique shows were located.
Things are different now. EDM music festivals have been mainstream for a while; beginning in Europe and now extremely prevalent in the US with Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, HARD events and many others. EDM snob, a fellow blogger, wrote a brilliant piece on the dangerous situation us EDM fans have gotten ourselves into. Check it out HERE so you can understand where some of my ideas have come from.
Now that Live Nation Entertainment (AKA Ticketmaster) has purchased Creamfields (creator of EDC) AND HARD events (creator of HARD Haunted and HARD summer) we will begin to see an alarming decrease in competition, and most likely, a noticeable rise in ticket prices. As EDM becomes more and more mainstream, its business model will become more and more mainstream as well. Additionally, due to the decline of music sales, these corporate behemoths are forcing artists to give a huge chunk of their live concert earnings to themselves. It seems the scene might become all about "the money" rather than the music. I mean, who HASN'T been bothered by the ridiculously expensive "service fees" we're all susceptible to when we purchase tickets for these events?

What can we do about this? Not much, unfortunately. I'm going to try and see artist individually, or at least at more independent events. And I'd suggest checking out some of the more underground events. Who knows, the next big EDM artist could be getting his start there. In any case, unless we all put our heads together, these companies will continue to grow to enormous heights.

All in all, it's an interesting issue to think about, and if you're interested in it, I would highly recommend checking out EDM Snob's analysis along the comments on his post. I'd also like to encourage you guys to share your thoughts too, especially if you disagree with me!
